Apple to expand Eaton Centre Apple Store, more than doubling the size of the location
Apple is believed to be relocating its store in the Eaton Centre mall in Downtown Toronto, Canada, with sources claiming the company may move into the location currently occupied by apparel chain Abercrombie & Fitch, a move which would more than double the size of its ageing 4,977-square-foot unit.
The move is believed to be taking place within three to five months from now, with a grand opening expected during some point in 2020. According to mall sources, Abercrombie & Fitch will be moving to a new space during spring 2019, freeing up a large second-floor unit for Apple located just beneath their existing spot.
Apple’s store in the Eaton Centre mall is near the Queen Street entrance to the mall, a prime location near the escalators. The mall saw more than 50 million people passing through its atrium in 2017, making it North America’s busiest shopping mall.
When opened the new location will undoubtedly feature the next-generation Apple Store design that has been sweeping its way through locations across the world, seeing the introduction of large in-door trees, sequoia wood tables and matching wooden shelves along the walls, new seating for personal set-up and Genius Bar customers as well as a large Today at Apple display.
