Apple slowing HomePod production due to weak sales growth
A new report from Bloomberg has claimed Apple is slowing HomePod production due to weak sales growth since the release of the speaker back in January.
It’s believed Apple is reducing its shipment forecast for the second quarter of 2018 from 500,000 units to 200,000 units. – The report shares data provided by Slice Intelligence who claim some Apple Store locations are “selling fewer than 10 HomePods a day.”
Citing a person familiar with the matter, Bloomberg notes Taiwan-based supplier Inventec Corporation has seen Apple lowered its forecast and cut orders…
By late March, Apple had lowered sales forecasts and cut some orders with Inventec Corp., one of the manufacturers that builds the HomePod for Apple.
HomePod was first announced in June at Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), and was given the release date of December 2017 which was later pushed back to “Early 2018”, a move believed to of been made due to a delayed approval from the US Federal Communications Commission.
HomePod is yet to become available for sale outside of the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
