Apple reports a manufacturing issue as the main cause of the sporadic shutdown issue effecting the iPhone 6s
Apple has confirmed a production issue, involving “controlled ambient air” during the manufacturing process of the iPhone 6s is the main cause of the sporadic shutdown issue effecting the handset in a post on their Chinese website.
We found that a small number of iPhone 6s devices made in September and October 2015 contained a battery component that was exposed to controlled ambient air longer than it should have been before being assembled into battery packs. As a result, these batteries degrade faster than a normal battery and cause unexpected shutdowns to occur. It’s important to note, this is not a safety issue.
While Apple purposely designed the iPhone to automatically shutdown under conditions such as extremely cold temperature, it appears that numbers of models produced during September 2015 and October 2015 can sporadicly shutdown with battery charges above 35%.
To help customers, Apple has launched a tool to check if your device is one effected by the “controlled ambient air” issue. | You can access the tool here…
