Apple reportedly planning new $1200 13-inch ‘entry-level’ MacBook in September
Apple is reportedly gearing up to release a new 13-inch ‘entry-level’ MacBook model in September according to reports from Digitimes on Friday who claim the Kaby Lake equipped machine will form as part of Apple’s rather dull MacBook Air line of hardware.
According to Digitimes, Apple had intended to release the new machines earlier in the year with 10m Intel CPU architecture; however, due to the continued delay of Intel’s 10nm rollout Apple had been forced to adapt its plans and adopt 14nm Kaby Lake chips instead.
The Apple Post reported on Monday that supplier Quanta is expected to see a surge in orders thanks to “new inexpensive” MacBook models expected to launch later in the year, with Taiwanese site DigiTimes claiming a new ‘entry-level’ was on the horizon.
Within the report, the site claims Apple will price its soon to be released AirPower wireless charging mat at $160, higher than previously suggested by “industry insiders”, via Chinese website Chongdiantou.
