Apple planning to replace damaged iPhone 6 Plus devices with newer iPhone 6s Plus
According to a leaked internal document Apple may soon replace damaged iPhone 6 Plus devices that qualify for a full device replacement with the a iPhone 6s Plus, likely due to a shortage in supply caused by the reduced price $29 out-of-warranty battery replacement service.
The news comes from MacRumors who verified the memo’s authenticity with multiple sources who requested to remain anonymous due to their positions, claiming Apple is informing stores that “orders for whole unit service inventory of some iPhone 6 Plus models may be substituted to an iPhone 6s Plus until the end of March 2018.”
The Apple Post reported earlier this month that Apple is in short supply of iPhone 6 Plus batteries, with the company informing stores and Authorized Service Providers that iPhone 6 Plus replacement batteries won’t be available until late March to early April in the US and other regions.
