Apple Pay has arrived in Spain, launching with Banco Santander, Amex and others
Apple has started to roll out support for Apple Pay in Spain, with the contactless payment service available to customers of Banco Santander, Carrefour, Pass, Amex and Ticket Restaurant, with Apple Pay said to be accepted in 75% of retail stores across Spain.
Online, Apple shares a list of 27 retail partners, which includes brands such as TGI Fridays, Lidl, Starbucks, Pull&Bear and Zara, with the contactless payment service also becoming available within Safari on supporting websites.
In a statement, a Santander spokesman added…
“Apple Pay shows we are committed to collaborate and to bring innovation and new technology to our customers to make their payments easier, faster and more secure,” said Rami Aboukhair, country head of Santander Spain. “We are convinced our customers will love it.”
This brings the total number of Apple Pay countries to 13: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and USA.
