Apple Music billboards turn Grammy nominees into Memoji characters
With the Grammy Awards just a couple of days away, Apple has been spotted decorating billboards across Los Angeles promoting the nominated artists as Memoji characters, inviting subscribers to listen to the artists’ albums on Apple Music.
The billboards promote Shawn Mendes, nominated for song of the year and best pop vocal album, Ariana Grande who is nominated for best pop solo performance and best pop vocal album, and lastly Kacey Musgraves who received four Grammy nominations for album of the year, best country solo, best country song, and best country album.
Memojis are Apple’s animated emoji characters that can be created to match the personal appearance of an iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR or Face ID-equipped iPad Pro user. The characters are available on devices that use Apple’s TrueDepth camera system, allowing users to animate clips and make stickers of their Memoji with facial movements.
Apple shared two Animoji karaoke commercials last year for the Grammy Awards, featuring the alien Animoji singing “Redbone” by Childish Gambino and the Animoji dog, fox, and poop singing “Stir Fry” from Migos which have since been removed from YouTube by Apple.
Apple has placed billboards down the side of the Hotel Figueroa in LA featuring the three artists, with each nominee believed to have their own billboard, similar to the one shared to promote Kacey Musgraves’ album, “Golden Hour”. – We’ll update this article when pictures of the other billboards are shared.
