Apple explains its failed Face ID demo
With the new iPhone X also comes a new biometric technology. Face ID was demoed live by software chief, Craig Federighi, at Apple’s keynote on Tuesday and… Lets’s just say it didn’t go well for the company. It was believed that Face ID was not functioning properly, but Apple claims otherwise.
“People were handling the device for [the] stage demo ahead of time and didn’t realise Face ID was trying to authenticate their face,” an unnamed company representative is quoted as saying by Yahoo’s David Pogue. After failing a number of times, because they weren’t Craig [Federighi], the iPhone did what it was designed to do, which was to require his passcode.”
Right before the demo Federighi described Face ID as being “effortless” to use and more accurate than its fingerprint-based Touch ID system. Apparently though, everything is functioning as normal. Tell us, how do you feel about Face ID? Would you prefer it over Touch ID?
