Apple delays the release of their Apple Music Carpool Karaoke series until ‘later this year’
Originally given the release date of April 2017, Apple has confirmed in a statement to Reuters that their Carpool Karaoke spin-off won’t be made available until “later this year” without any specific reason for the delay.
Back in February Apple released two Apple Music Carpool Karaoke commercials, announcing a release date of April 2017. The two commercial gave us our first look at how the series would be shown within the Apple Music app on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
In July 2016, it was announced that Apple was the surprise buyer of the unscripted TV series, with the company planning to air the new series to their subscribers worldwide. While the upcoming release of Carpool Karaoke shall follow the same principle of the previous episodes, British TV personality James Corden won’t be the only host of the show, with John Legend, Will Smith, Blake Shelton, Shaquille O’Neal and many more jumping in the hot seat. – Apple has licensed 16 episodes of the show, with episodes planned to be released on a weekly basis.
Apple, a company known for its precisely coordinated product launches, declined to explain the delays, but said in a statement that “Carpool Karaoke: The Series will premiere on Apple Music later this year.”
