Apple blames faulty software for dangerous icicles on Chicago store roof
Apple has blamed a fault at their newly opened flagship Michigan Avenue retail store that caused dangerous icicles to appear on the edges of their MacBook shaped roof as a software issue, saying the in-roof heating system “had been foiled by a technical malfunction”.
The report comes from the Chicago Tribune which spoke with Apple spokesman Nick Leahy who said that the building’s architects, London-based Foster + Partners, had designed the store with winter in mind, however a fault with the buildings heating system had lead to hanging icicles which caused for the area surrounding the store to be cordoned off as a safety precaution.
While little detail has been shared regarding the in-roof heating systems, it’s believed the building will drain water melted from the roof through four internal support columns, instead of through the gutter like buildings normally do.
