Animoji coming to iPhone 8, allowing for 3D animated emoji based off facial expressions
As uncovered by 9to5Mac in leaked iOS 11 GM firmware, Apple appears to be readying “Animoji” for the iPhone 8, a new feature which would create 3D animated emoji characters based off the individual facial expressions of a user.
According to the blog who unearthed the new animated emoji earlier today, iPhone 8 users will be able to make Animoji of unicorns, robots, pigs, and many more, with the facial recognition features built into the iPhone 8 being able to detect when a user is smiling, frowning, laughing or surprised.
The report shows Apple has described the new “Animoji” as ‘custom animated messages that use your voice and reflect your facial expressions’. – While specifics haven’t been shared, it appears that iPhone 8 users will be able to create the “Animoji” via the Messages app, possibly via a new iMessage application designed by Apple.
The new “Animoji” will likely be unveiled next Tuesday at Apple’s “Let’s meet at our place” media event which is expected to see Apple unveil the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, an updated Apple Watch Series 3, a new 4K Apple TV alongside revealing the public release date of iOS 11, tvOS 11, watchOS 4 and macOS High Sierra.
