Amazon Echo bug causing random ‘laughing’ noise at users
Amazon has acknowledged a bug with Alexa, their Siri-like voice assistant most commonly used on the Amazon Echo smart speaker, which is randomly playing “evil” and “creepy,” ‘laughing’ noises at some users following disruption to Amazon Web Services.
In a short statement shared with The Verge, Amazons said “We’re aware of this and working to fix it”.
The bug appears to only be effecting a small number of Alexa devices, however reports are claiming that the ‘laughing’ noise has been on the system since as early as late February, just a few weeks after HomePod launched.
So Alexa decided to laugh randomly while I was in the kitchen. Freaked @SnootyJuicer and I out. I thought a kid was laughing behind me. pic.twitter.com/6dblzkiQHp

Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh… there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.
