iPhone 17 front-facing camera to be upgraded to 24MP, says Kuo
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that the iPhone 17, which is expected to be released in 2025, is set to debut a substantial leap in its front-facing camera capabilities, stepping up to a 24-megapixel sensor paired with a six-element lens.
Compared to the 12-megapixel sensor in Apple’s current iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17’s rumored 24-megapixel upgrade will offer finer detail and clarity in images, affording greater flexibility for cropping and zooming without compromising quality.
Moreover, the jump will offer improvement to the camera’s performance in low-light conditions by optimising light transmission to the sensor.
It has previously been reported that the iPhone 17 Pro will likely be Apple’s first iPhone to feature a custom-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip, marking yet another component cut from third-party suppliers following after most notably Apple dropped Intel from its Mac lineup beginning in 2020 in favor of its own custom processors, the M-series.
