Smash-and-grab thieves crash car into Illinois Apple Store

Smash-and-grab thieves have targeted the Main Place Apple Store in Naperville, Illinois as part of a robbery that saw a stolen beige Hyundai Elantra driven at speed through the store’s glass facade, giving three suspects access to the building, where they took devices and fled.
According to Naperville police spokeswoman Kelley Munch, the three suspects escaped in a dark-colored SUV around 6:00am on Monday, with an investigation ongoing as detectives hunt the trio who made off with an undisclosed number of devices.
It is understood that the smash-and-grab lasted just minutes, with police reporting that they were alerted to the incident around 5 minutes after the car was driven into the store’s glass frontage.
As noted by the Chicago Tribune, a police officer responding to the incident Monday morning, who did not identify himself, said the car drove “straight through the parking lot” across the street from the store before crashing into the retailer.
