Apple to add new Translate option to iPhone 15 Pro Action button customization options

Apple is adding a new customization option to the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button with iOS 17.2, with the update set to introduce a new Translate option, which will use the device’s built-in Translate app to invoke a translation session from the Dynamic Island.
Currently, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users can choose from a total of nine Action button customization options including Silent mode, Focus, Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Magnifier, Shortcuts, Accessibility, or No Action.
As confirmed with the first iOS 17.2 developer beta, which introduces Apple’s all-new Journal app, when the Action button is set as Translate, users can hold the button to open a Translate window that listens for spoken text. The iPhone will then translate the spoken language it hears and translates the voice into text for the user.
Apple is expected to release iOS 17.2 in December.
