iPadOS 17 to be released simultaneously with iOS 17, Gurman says

Apple plans to simultaneously release iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 later this month, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman says that in a shift from last year, his sources are reporting that Apple plans to release its next-generation software updates for iPhone and iPad together, following extensive beta testing of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 since the new operating systems were shown off at WWDC23 in June.
iOS 17 features a wide range of improvements and new capabilities, including upgrades across the Phone, FaceTime and Messages apps, new AirDrop capabilities, StandBy, a new way to view glanceable information when iPhone is set down and charging, new interactive widgets, and more.
iPadOS 17 adds many of the new features introduced with iOS 17, including significant updates for Messages, including a new stickers experience, and users can now leave FaceTime video and audio messages.
The main highlight of iPadOS 17 is the ability for users can now customize the Lock Screen to make it more personal and useful. Many of the iOS 16 Lock Screen features have been brought to the iPad, allowing users to set their favourite images on the Lock Screen and stylise them in new ways.
