Apple shows off new NameDrop feature coming with iOS 17

Apple has unveiled iOS 17, bringing a wide range of improvements coming to iPhone, including upgrades across the Phone, app, FaceTime, and Messages apps, new AirDrop capabilities, an all-new Journal app, StandBy, a new way to view glanceable information when iPhone is set down and charging, and more.
With iOS 17, Apple is introducing a new feature called NameDrop which will allow users to easily share contact information by simply bringing their devices together.
NameDrop, an expansion of AirDrop, allows users to send contact information to another iPhone user by putting their devices together, or by bringing an iPhone and Apple Watch together. With the same gesture, users can also share content or start SharePlay to listen to music, watch a movie, or play a game while in close proximity between iPhone devices.
When two iPhones are brought together, a special NameDrop pop-up will appear on-screen, with users able to tap to save the contact information of the other user while also simultaneously sharing theirs.
