iOS 16.5 bug breaks Lightning to USB Camera Adapter accessory compatibility

Apple released iOS 16.5 earlier this week, adding a new Pride Celebration wallpaper for the Lock Screen, updates to the News app, and improvements.
However, the update has seemingly broken iPhone and iPad compatibility with the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, with users reporting that the dongle does not pass power through from connected accessories to power the iOS device it is attached to.
The bug, which has widely been reported on the online Apple Support forums, will likely be addressed with an upcoming iOS 16.5.1 bug fix, although no official release date has be confirmed.
With the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, users are supposed to be able to transfer photos and videos from their digital camera to an iPhone or iPad.
