Apple has today updated its music recognition app Shazam with Apple Music Classical support, allowing users to identify and find the name of any classical composition in seconds, with users then able to play the full piece by selecting “Open in Classical” to open Apple Music Classical.
Bought by Apple in 2017, Shazam is a music identification app that allows users to recognize a song that they hear but may not know the title or artist.
To use Shazam, a user simply holds their smartphone up to the source of the music for a couple of seconds while the app listens and ‘matches’ the audio to its database of more than 11 million songs. Shazam then provides the user with details about the song, including the title, artist, album, and lyrics.
Apple launched Apple Music Classical in March, offering unlimited access to the world’s largest classical music catalog, free for all Apple Music subscribers.
