Apple rolling out iOS 16.5 RC to developers
Apple today is rolling out its iOS 16.5 RC (release candidate) to developers, signalling that the public release of the software is nearing, bringing a Sports tab to the News app, the ability to ask Siri to start a screen recording, minor bug fixes, and more.
Available now for registered developer beta testers, the iOS 16.5 release candidate can be downloaded by registered developers by opening up the Settings app on their iPhone, tapping Software Update, selecting the “Beta Updates” option and toggling on the iOS 16 Developer Beta.
iOS 16.5 appears to be a minor update in comparison to iOS 16.4, which brought 21 new emoji including new animals, hand gestures, objects, and more, support for notifications on web apps added to the Home Screen, Voice Isolation for cellular calls, Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models, and more.
