Tim Cook says ‘India is an incredibly exciting market’ for Apple

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that India is a “major focus” for the company, saying the country is “an incredibly exciting market” following the grand opening of the first two Apple Stores in the country last month, setting quarterly records sales as the company announced revenue of $94.8 billion.
“India is an incredibly exciting market. It’s a major focus for us, I was just there, the dynamism in the market, the vibrancy is unbelievable,” said Cook in a Q&A on Thursday. “Over time, we’ve been expanding our operations there to serve more customers.”
Adding to his comments, Cook said he “couldn’t be more delighted and excited for the enthusiasm” for Apple in India, adding that “India is at a tipping point” as a growing number of citizens start to come into the middle class.
Apple stepped up its retail efforts in India in 2020, expanding the official online Apple Store to bring its full range of products and support directly to customers across the country for the first time.
Last month, the company opened the doors to new retail locations in both Mumbai and New Delhi.
