Apple releases iOS Security Response 16.4.1 update
Apple has released a new Rapid Security Response (RSR) update to iOS 16.4.1, bringing security fixes to iPhone.
The update, available now for iPhone and iPad, and Mac users running macOS 13.3.1, has been released to provide important security fixes without the need for a full software update.
Today’s release of the new Rapid Security Response (RSR) updates are the first time that Apple has pushed such an update outside of its beta updates for developers.
Apple hasn’t detailed what security fixes the RSR updates introduces, with the release notes simply reading “This Rapid Security Response provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”
Apple’s webpage says “Rapid Security Responses are a new type of software release for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. They deliver important security improvements between software updates — for example, improvements to the Safari web browser, the WebKit framework stack, or other critical system libraries. They may also be used to mitigate some security issues more quickly, such as issues that might have been exploited or reported to exist “in the wild.”
