Customs officials seize $290k shipment of counterfeit Apple AirPods and Apple Watch Ultra

Customs officials in the U.S. have intercepted a shipment from China containing 1,000 fake Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and 50 Apple Watch Ultra models at Washington Dulles International Airport, appraised at the retail price at about $290,000.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped the shipment on March 15, with staff suspecting that the products may be counterfeit and detaining them for further investigation. On March 21, the officers verified the Apple products as counterfeits, with an investigation now underway into the illegal activity.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the fakes featured Apple’s “signature simple, white packaging” including the Apple logo and identical product imagery to that used on Apple’s genuine retail boxes.
