Rumored 15-inch MacBook Air expected to be equipped with M2 chip, not M3
Apple’s rumored new 15-inch MacBook Air, which is expected to be announced at WWDC in June, will likely be equipped with the existing M2 chip rather than with an all-new M3 silicon chip, according to a blogpost citing a Taiwanese supply chain source.
According to the post on Naver Blog, Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air won’t feature a new M3-series chip as originally planned. Instead, due to “a combination of factors such as market conditions and inventory adjustment,” Apple will instead equip the machine with the existing M2 chip, found in the 13-inch MacBook Air.
The design of the new 15-inch MacBook Air isn’t expected to dramatically change compared to the current 13.6-inch model that Apple announced last year, featuring a Liquid Retina display, 1080p HD camera, MagSafe charging, and more in four new finishes — midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray.
WWDC will see Apple announce the next major software updates coming later in the year for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, including iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14. The keynote is also expected to see the company unveil its much-anticipated AR/VR mixed-reality headset, which would be shown off ahead of a launch towards the end of the year
