Apple rumored to open first Apple Store in India next month

Apple’s first retail store in India is expected to open as soon as next month, with a report from The Economic Times claiming that the store, located in a 22,000 sq ft unit in the Jio World Drive shopping mall in Mumbai, will be one of two new locations opening within the near future in India.
The opening of the new Mumbai Apple Store, which will be Apple’s flagship in the country, is said to be followed soon after by the opening of a new store in New Delhi at the Select Citywalk mall in Saket, spanning 10,000 sq ft.
Interestingly, the report from The Economic Times claims that fitouts are completed for both new stores, saying that contractors completed work own the New Delhi store before the Mumbai location was completed, meaning that Apple has purposefully held off from unveiling the new store in New Delhi until the flagship Mumbai location has been announced and opened.
Apple stepped up its retail efforts in India in 2020, expanding the official online Apple Store to bring its full range of products and support directly to customers across the country for the first time, cutting the reliance on Apple’s network of third-party sellers to handle sales and support in the country.
