iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone of 2022, according to research firm

The iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone of 2022, according to Counterpoint Research’s Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker, which suggests that the iPhone represented eight out of the top ten best selling smartphones of the year globally.
According to the firm, the iPhone 13 took top spot on the best-selling smartphone list, with the iPhone 13 Pro Max taking second place, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max taking third place.
Samsung’s Galaxy A13 was the fourth most popular smartphone, according to the results, with the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 14 and 2022 iPhone SE all following in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth place.
The Samsung Galaxy A03 was the tenth most popular phone of the year, with the research firm saying it believes that the share of the top 10 smartphones will increase in 2023 as brands focus on clearing inventory and optimizing launches. “We also expect brands to continue making their portfolios leaner in 2023 to minimize cannibalization,” said Counterpoint analysts Harshit Rastogi and Karn Chauhan. “The number of active smartphone models in the global market has already fallen from over 4,200 in 2021 to around 3,600 in 2022.”
