Apple releases new ‘Car Keys Tests’ app for vehicle manufacturers

Apple has quietly released a new Car Keys Tests app on the App Store, intended for car manufacturers to test integration with Apple’s Car Key feature that allows users to add their car key to the Wallet app, and use their iPhone or Apple Watch to lock, unlock and start their car.
As discovered by 9to5Mac, Apple has pushed the new Car Keys Tests app to the App Store but has kept the app hidden by making the listing private, meaning that the application can only be downloaded by using a direct link and not through App Store search.
According to the app’s description, the Car Keys Tests app is designed to test and validate connection, performance, and other key requirements for the certification process of the vehicles that incorporate Apple digital car keys technology.
For use by MFi Licensees only. Use the Car Keys Tests app to test and validate connection, performance, and other key requirements for the certification process of the vehicles you develop that incorporate Apple digital car keys technology. The App Store screenshots for the new Car Keys Tests app show various pages within the app, offering a brief look at the testing process car manufacturers need to undertake to have their vehicles certified to be Car Key compatible.
Despite anyone being able to download the app from the App Store using a direct link, only Apple’s MFi Licensees will be able to actually use the app by signing in using their Apple Car Key credentials.
