Apple hiring staff in Mumbai and New Delhi for first Apple Stores in India

Apple is preparing for the opening of its first retail stores in India this year, with a report from The Financial Times revealing that hires have been made across Mumbai and New Delhi for roles including store managers, Genius Bar technicians, technical specialists, and more.
Apple had planned to open its first store in India before the end of 2022, but it is understood that the delay to the store’s grand opening in Mumbai was due in part to delays with interior fitting and other supplies being delayed due to the pandemic.
The report, via MacRumors, notes how job listings for more than 10 store-related roles have been found in “various locations” throughout India, with LinkedIn profiles showing hires have been made in the country ahead of the opening of the iPhone maker’s first official retail locations.
Should all go to plan with the launch in Mumbai this year, Apple is expected to open a second flagship store in India in New Delhi at Select Citywalk mall in Saket, spanning 10,000-12,000 sq ft which is said to be currently in the construction phase.
Apple stepped up its retail efforts in India in 2020, expanding the official online Apple Store to bring its full range of products and support directly to customers across the country for the first time, cutting the reliance on Apple’s network of third-party sellers to handle sales and support in the country.
