Apple rumored to open first Indian Apple Store in Mumbai, second new store planned for New Delhi

Apple is expected to open its first Apple Store in India in the coming months, with reports suggesting that the new store will be located in a 22,000 sq ft unit in the Jio World Drive shopping mall in Mumbai, which is expected to open ahead of a second store in the country in New Delhi, according to The Economic Times.
Apple had planned to open its first store in India before the end of the year, but it is understood that the delay to the store’s grand opening is due in part to delays with interior fitting and other supplies being delayed due to the pandemic.
Should all go to plan with the launch in Mumbai this year, Apple is expected to open a second flagship store in India in New Delhi at Select Citywalk mall in Saket, spanning 10,000-12,000 sq ft which is said to be currently in the construction phase.
Apple stepped up its retail efforts in India in 2020, expanding the official online Apple Store to bring its full range of products and support directly to customers across the country for the first time, cutting the reliance on Apple’s network of third-party sellers to handle sales and support in the country.
