Apple honours Brazilian soccer legend Pelé with homepage tribute

Apple is honouring Brazilian soccer legend Pelé, who died Thursday after a yearlong bout with cancer, with a tribute on the homepage of its website in Brazil.
The tribute sees a soccer ball and crown emoji takeover Apple’s homepage in the country, showing an all-black background and the dates “1940 – 2022”.
In 2000, Pelé was voted World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics and was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the Century.
Besides soccer, Pelé starred in several movies, including “Escape to Victory,” starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine, and several documentaries about his life.
After his soccer career ended, the icon also worked with the United Nations, in which he campaigned on environmental issues, among other causes.
