OLED 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro expected to launch in 2024
Apple is rumored to launch its very first OLED iPad Pro in 2024, with reliable analyst Ross Young suggesting on Twitter that new 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with OLED displays are in the pipeline featuring support for ProMotion, offer users superior picture quality and faster refresh rates.
This is not the first time Young has suggested OLED displays are coming to the iPad Pro. Hot on the heals of Apple announcing its M2 iPad Pro earlier this year, Young claimed that 2024 would likely see Apple drop the LED backlit display on the current models in favor of OLED.
It has also previously been rumored that Apple will hire display manufacturer Samsung Display to produce the new OLED panels for the 2024 iPad Pro.
In general, OLED displays offer a better viewing experience over LED thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.
Despite not sharing any details about what other features the new 2024 OLED iPad Pro models could bring, Young has previously reported that the devices will have “two-stack” OLED displays with two red, green, and blue emission layers for increased brightness and lower power consumption.
