iPadOS 16.1 now available with Stage Manager, Weather app, redesigned Home app, iCloud Shared Photo Library, and more

Apple has released iPadOS 16.1, the first iPadOS 16 update, featuring Stage Manager, iMessage upgrades, updates to Mail and Safari, the Weather app, an all-new design for the Home app, and more.
iPadOS 16 was announced in June, with Apple later sharing that it would be pushing back the release of the software until later in the year, with iPadOS 16.1 being the first version of the iPad operating system to roll out to supported devices.
Stage Manager is one of iPadOS 16’s most significant new features. Stage Manager is a new multitasking experience that automatically organises apps and windows, making it easy to switch between tasks. For the first time on iPad, users can create overlapping windows of different sizes in a single view, drag and drop windows from the side, or open apps from the Dock to create groups of apps.
Like iOS 16, iPadOS 16 includes the option to edit or recall recently sent iMessages, recover recently deleted messages, and mark conversations as unread. In Mail, users are given a moment to cancel the delivery of an email before it reaches a recipient’s inbox, schedule emails, and move sent emails to the top of their inbox to send a follow-up.

For the first time, Apple has brought the Weather app to iPad with iPadOS 16.1. With a tap, users can see weather information, or see the map to check precipitation, air quality, and temperature. Users can also be notified when a severe weather alert is issued in their area, or check the air quality using a colour-coded scale.
