iPhone 14 Plus sales falling below Apple’s expectations, report claims

Yet another report is suggesting that demand for the newly released 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus is falling below Apple’s expectations, with a paywalled report from DigiTimes (via MacRumors) claiming that the lacklustre sales performance of the iPhone 14 Plus is due to an “enthusiastic” response to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Late last month, Bloomberg reported that Apple has reportedly lowered its initial iPhone 14 sales projections, claiming that suppliers have been instructed to pull back from efforts to increase assembly of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
The report echoed similar claims from respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said Apple is asking suppliers to concentrate manufacturing efforts on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max production rather than the production of the regular iPhone 14 due to strong demand for the high-end handsets.
Kuo said that he expects Apple component suppliers to see an increase in iPhone 14 Pro part orders as a result of the change in manufacturing efforts, which will represent around a 10% increase in the shipment forecast for iPhone 14 Pro models in the fourth quarter of 2022.
