How to turn on iPhone 14 startup and shutdown chimes
Apple has added a new Mac-like startup and shutdown chime to the iPhone, which plays a sound whenever a user powers on or turns off their device to indicate the change in state, added as an accessibility feature for users who have impaired vision.
Turned off by default, the new startup and shutdown chimes are only available to users who manually enable the setting, which is now part of Apple’s growing Accessibility toolset.
Apple has limited the startup and shutdown chimes to the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
How to turn on iPhone 14 startup and shutdown chimes
- Open the Settings app and tap Accessibility
- Scroll down and select Audio/Visual
- Switch the Turn On & Off Sounds toggle to either enable or disable the chimes
The sounds cannot be customised, and users cannot choose to only hear the chime for just the startup or just the shutdown.
