Apple has unveiled the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, two new iPhone models available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature a new dual-camera system, Crash Detection, an all-new Emergency SOS via satellite service, and new technologies for improved battery life and performance. Apple has split pre-orders into two halves, with the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 available to pre-order on Friday, September 9 ahead of deliveries and in-store availability beginning Friday, September 16, and the larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus becoming available to pre-order in October.
Both new iPhone 14 models are designed using aerospace-grade aluminum in five finishes. The devices boast a new 12MP Main camera featuring a larger sensor and larger pixels and a new front TrueDepth camera.

The iPhone 14 lineup introduces Emergency SOS via satellite, which enables antennas to connect directly to a satellite, bringing messaging with emergency services when outside of cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. With Emergency SOS via satellite, iPhone front-loads a few vital questions to assess the user’s situation, and shows them where to point their phone to connect to a satellite. The initial questionnaire and follow-up messages are then relayed to centers staffed by Apple‑trained specialists who can call for help on the user’s behalf. This technology also allows users to manually share their location over satellite with Find My when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Emergency SOS via satellite will be available to users in the US and Canada in November, and the service will be free for two years.

Like the previous-generation iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus support 5G with a True Tone display, A15 Bionic chip, 4K video recording at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, 1080p HD video recording at 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, a Ceramic Shield front, dual-camera system, and Face ID.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are available in midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities. The devices are priced at $799 (US) and $899 (US), respectively.
