Apple reportedly starts recording iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 special event
Apple has reportedly started production of this year’s September special event, where the Cupertino company is expected to unveil the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, Apple Watch Series 8, an all-new rugged Apple Watch and an updated Apple Watch SE 2, according to Mark Gurman in this week’s edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg.
Apple’s rumored September special event is expected to focus on the iPhone and Apple Watch, with today’s report suggesting that we will see this year’s keynote pre-recorded like all new product announcements since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, likely with segments shot from different areas of the Cupertino campus and the Steve Jobs Theater.
“This isn’t entirely surprising, but I’m told that Apple has started to record and assemble its September media event, which is likely to take place in the first half of the month (as usual),” says Gurman.
Gurman suggests Apple may host two special events this fall. The first will be September’s iPhone and Apple Watch event, followed by a second for the Mac and iPad, likely in October.
Apple is widely rumored to be dropping the 5.4-inch ‘mini’ iPhone from its lineup this year, replacing the model with a large 6.7-inch non-Pro iPhone for the first time. Previous reports have suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature graphite, gold, silver, and purple finishes, dropping the iPhone 13 Pro’s sierra blue and new alpine green options.
In April we saw alleged real-world iPhone 14 display panels leak online, showing the rumored pill-shape and circular display cutouts, which will replace the traditional notch to house the front-facing camera and Face ID system on this year’s new iPhone models.
Earlier this year, YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser shared a set of concept images showing us what the iPhone 14 Pro will probably look like, featuring pill-shape and circular display cutouts, new purple finish, and more.
