Apple highlights iPhone privacy features in new ad
Apple has released a new ad touting the privacy features built into iPhone, highlighting iOS 15’s App Tracking Transparency and Mail Privacy Protection that give users greater control over their personal data, and how it is shared with third-party companies and advertisers.
The ad focuses on a woman who stumbles into an auction site to find her personal data, such as her emails, browsing history, location and financial data, and more being sold at an auction house, with bids being placed by outsiders to obtain her sensitive information, highlighting the valuable everyday information that is typically used and collected by third-parties.
The ad then shows the woman turning on Apple’s App Tracking Transparency and Mail Privacy Protection features on her iPhone, which gives users the option to share their data with data brokers, and hides a user’s genuine email address and mail opening activity from marketers, with the auctioneer and bidders suddenly disappearing as Apple’s privacy features begin to kick-in.
“iPhone has privacy features like App Tracking Transparency and Mail Privacy Protection that help you control who sees your data and who doesn’t,” says Apple in the video’s description on YouTube.
