Apple cutting iPhone SE production because of lower than expected demand
Apple is cutting iPhone SE production volumes due to lower than expected demand, according to two reports on Monday.
Nikkei Asia claims Apple plans to make about 20% fewer iPhone SEs next quarter than originally planned, lower production orders by “about 2 million to 3 million units” for the quarter, citing unnamed sources.
The supposed production cut was later backed up by respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who cut his estimated shipments for the device in 2022 from 25 million-30 million to 15 million -20 million.
Apple announced the new iPhone SE earlier this month. The device features the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13, 5G connectivity, better battery life, improved durability, and a new camera system with Photographic Styles, Deep Fusion, and more for a new, higher price of $429.
The device features the same overall design as the previous version announced in 2020, featuring an iPhone 8-style design with a 4.7-inch LCD display, chunky top and bottom bezels, a Touch ID Home button, a single rear camera with LED True Tone flash and more.
