Rumor claims new iPhone SE to feature MagSafe, Ceramic Shield, and more
Ahead of Apple’s “Peek performance” special event today, a last-minute rumor is suggesting Apple’s forthcoming iPhone SE will feature some major upgrades including MagSafe, Ceramic Shield, and “significantly” better battery life.
The rumor comes from a post from user “yeux1122” on the Korean blog Naver (first spotted by MacRumors) that claims to offer information on the next-generation iPhone SE, suggesting users will be able to use the MagSafe charger and other MagSafe accessories with the new device, as well as benefit from the improved drop resistances of the Ceramic Shield display.
The iPhone SE is Apple’s affordable entry-level iPhone. The device is priced from $399 and is targeted towards customers in developing markers and first-time iPhone buyers. Reports so far have suggested that Apple wouldn’t bring MagSafe to the iPhone SE due to the increased component costs, so we suggest taking this last-minute rumor with a pinch of salt.
The device is expected to feature the same iPhone 8-style design as the existing model, keeping the 4.7-inch LCD display, Touch ID Home button and chunky top and bottom bezels found on the current-generation model introduced in 2020, with Apple adding 5G support, updated internals from the iPhone 13 including the A15 Bionic chip, and battery upgrades.
