Apple discontinues the 27-inch iMac
After announcing the all-new Mac Studio and Studio Display today, Apple has officially killed off the 27-inch iMac by discontinuing the product and pulling it from the online Apple Store.
Today marks the end of Apple’s iconic silver all-in-one iMac, with the redesigned 2021 24-inch iMac now the only iMac left in the category.
Apple notably didn’t update the 27-inch iMac last year when it launched a completely redesigned 24-inch model to replace the ageing Intel-powered 21-inch machine, with the now discontinued 27-inch model having the same iconic silver all-in-one design in a smaller form.
With the new 27-inch Studio Display connecting to any Mac, it seems Apple no longer sees the need for a 27-inch iMac. Instead, users will need to purchase the new external display with either a Mac mini, the new Mac Studio, Mac Pro or simply opt for the 24-inch iMac to get an Apple desktop.
