macOS Monterey 12.2 now available, fixing Safari history leak bug
Apple has rolled out macOS Monterey 12.2, fixing a recently discovered Safari bug that could leak a users’ browsing history and Google ID to websites that use the IndexedDB JavaScript API to see the URLs recently visited by a user, first spotted this month in a blog post from FingerprintJS.
Available now as an update from Systems Preferences, macOS Monterey 12.2 has been in beta testing since December, with the updates in the beta cycle appearing to suggest that today’s update will focus mainly on internal improvements to macOS rather than bringing new features or user-facing improvements.
Apple is yet to release Universal Control for the Mac, the highly anticipated feature that will allow users to work with a single mouse and keyboard and move between Mac and iPad. It was revealed in December that Universal Control would be held back until spring, so today’s update appears to be minor ahead of a more substantial update in the coming months.
As we all begin to install the public version of macOS Monterey 12.2 it will soon come to light if any new features have been added that weren’t included in the beta cycle.
