Next iPad Pro rumored to have large glass Apple logo for wireless charging
The next iPad Pro is rumored to feature a large glass Apple logo on the back to enable wireless charging, according to 9to5Mac’s Filipe Espósito who on Friday corroborated earlier reports that Apple will add MagSafe support to this year’s new iPad Pro.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman suggested in September that Apple was working on a redesigned iPad Pro that is expected to feature wireless charging for the first time on an iPad, claiming at the time that a source had said one of the prototypes being worked on by engineers had a new glass backing to match recent iPhone designs.
However, according to Filipe’s new report, those plans appear to have now changed, with a source claiming to have knowledge that Apple has seemingly scrapped plans for a glass-backed iPad amid concerns over breakability, with the company experimenting with a prototype that features a large glass Apple logo on the back which would enable wireless charging with “stronger magnets” for “faster speeds than MagSafe for iPhone.”
According to Filipe, the new iPad Pro will likely feature a larger battery, a camera module similar to the one from the iPhone 13 and possibly an all-new “M2” chip, up from the M1 chip found on the current iPad Pro introduced in April last year.
There’s no word on when Apple will unveil its next-generation iPad Pro, however, it is expected the company will host its first special event in either March or April to announce the rumored iPhone SE 3 with 5G support.
