iPhone 14 Pro to feature new pill-shaped camera cutout with under-display Face ID, claims leaker
Apple is rumored to be introducing a new pill-shaped camera cutout design with the iPhone 14 Pro set to launch later this year, removing the obtrusive TrueDepth Camera System notch with under-display Face ID and leaving the front-facing selfie camera in a small “punch hole” cutout.
The information comes from reliable leaker @dylandkt on Thursday who claims he is able to “corroborate information regarding a hole punch camera for the pro models of the iPhone 14” suggesting that Apple will relocate Face ID hardware to underneath the device’s display, adding that “the functionality of these sensors have not been negatively affected by this change.”
In a follow-up tweet when asked if the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a Samsung-style circle “punch hole” or pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing FaceTime camera, the leaker says Apple will likely use the latter, giving this year’s new iPhone a look similar to the concept image above from Ben Geskin.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed last year that Apple could introduce a “punch-hole display design” with the 2022 iPhone, suggesting at the time that the device’s notch would be removed altogether, leaving questions as how Apple will handle Face ID.
Apple is expected to release four new iPhone 14 models this year, removing the 5.4-inch iPhone “mini” series and replacing it with a non-Pro 6.7-inch model, leaving the range to comprise of a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
