Apple closes all New York City retail stores as COVID-19 Omicron variant spreads
Update: Apple is now allowing some New York City locations to reopen with a limited numbers of customers for shopping and Genius Bar services
Apple has continued closing retail stores as the COVID-19 Omicron variant has continued to spread. Less than a week ago, Apple announced it was closing seven retail stores across the U.S and follows three others the week before that. Now, the Cupertino company is temporally closing all of its New York City locations. The stores will still be available for online in-store pickup orders, but customers are no longer permitted to visit the locations. Apple is also closing the following locations in New York State:
- New York, Upper West Side
- New York, Upper East Side
- New York, SoHo
- New York, Fifth Avenue
- New York, World Trade Center
- New York, West 14th Street
- New York, Grand Central
- Brooklyn, Williamsburg
- Brooklyn, Downtown Brooklyn
- Bronx, The Mall at Bay Plaza
- Staten Island, Staten Island
- Elmhurst, Queens Center
- Garden City, Roosevelt Field
- Huntington Station, Walt Whitman
- Lake Grove, Smith Haven
- Manhasset, Manhasset
Apple has previously said they are “regularly monitoring conditions” to determine which stores should be closed to “support the well-being of customers and employees” and have since reinstated mask mandates at all US retail stores.
