27-inch ‘iMac Pro’ rumored to launch in the spring
Display analyst Ross Young has shared that he expects Apple to release a new 27-inch “iMac Pro” early next year, featuring a mini-LED display similar to the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro, supporting 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates.
According to Young who shared what he predicts will be the big display stories of 2022, the new iMac is “expected in the spring,” hinting we will likely see a spring special event, where separate rumors have suggested that Apple will announce a new iPhone SE and possibly a redesigned Mac mini.
The new 27-inch iMac will likely feature the same forward-thinking design as the 24-inch model that was introduced last April that is only 11.5mm thick with a 50 percent reduction in volume compared to the previous generation, slimmer bezzles, no front-facing Apple logo, and seven color options, although it is unknown at this stage if the “iMac Pro” will have the same striking colors as the smaller model.
A redesigned 27-inch iMac has been rumored since the release of the 24-inch model earlier this year, with Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman suggesting in a story published in May that Apple pushed back the launch of the new larger version until next year to avoid delays in releasing the colorful 24-inch model and this year’s other new Mac models.
The new 27-inch model would see Apple reintroduce the “iMac Pro” naming after the previous version of the machine was killed off in March this year.
