Rumor says iOS 16 to drop support for these three iPhones
Apple is rumored to be dropping support for three iPhone models starting next year with the release of iOS 16, with French blog iPhonesoft claiming to have knowledge that suggests next year’s major update for iPhone and iPad will require devices with an A10 chip, dropping support for three iPhones and four iPads.
According to the report, iOS 16 won’t be supported on the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and the original iPhone SE. iPadOS 16 is rumored to not support the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2015), iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus and 1st generation SE are the only iPhones to be supported through seven major versions of iOS, from iOS 9 to iOS 15.
iOS 16 will likely be announced by Apple in June next year at WWDC22. The updates are typically released to the public in September alongside the next-generation iPhone lineup.
