Netatmo releases new HomeKit-compatible carbon monoxide detector

Smart home company Netatmo has released its very first HomeKit-compatible carbon monoxide sensor, which measures carbon monoxide levels in real-time and notifies homeowners through an alarm and notifications if carbon monoxide, an invisible, odourless and potentially fatal gas, is detected in various rooms throughout their home.
Performing automatic carbon monoxide tests, the Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm works with Apple HomeKit, allowing users to create automations for when a carbon monoxide warning is triggered. For example, users are able to turn on their lights or control other HomeKit accessories to assist with the evacuation of their homes.
The new Netatmo carbon monoxide detector is available now in the UK and Europe for £99.99. The sensor works without any electrical connection and can be installed simply by attaching it to the wall. The device runs off of battery power, with Netatmo touting that the detector’s battery will run for 10 years, by which time it is recommended the detector is replaced, like all carbon monoxide alarms after 10 years.

There’s no word on when the Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm will be released elsewhere in the world. The detector is available now through the Netatmo website and third-party retailers such as Amazon.
