Sky to add Apple TV+ app to Sky Glass and Sky Q this year

UK premium satellite TV provider Sky has announced that it will be bringing the Apple TV+ app to Sky Glass and Sky Q customers before the end of the year, with the broadcaster also announcing that customers in the UK will also have long-awaited access to Sky Go on Apple TV devices in mid-2022.
Following rumors earlier in the year that suggested Sky would be adding the Apple TV+ app to its Sky Q box, the company has now officially announced the plans, which will see Apple TV+ join the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ as built-in streaming apps for customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy.
“With the addition of Apple TV+ our customers can now enjoy phenomenal shows like The Morning Show, Trying and Ted Lasso, together with our own award-winning Sky Originals, and the best content and apps from our partners, all on Sky Glass,” said Sky Group Chief Executive Dana Strong in a press release.

The announcement marks a further expansion to the availability of the Apple TV+ app on third-party hardware. Available in over 100 countries and regions, Apple TV+ is shown on a range of smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL and others, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and more.
Sky Q is a subscription-based television and entertainment service from Sky. The service lets users watch 300 TV channels on its base package, with the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV, as well as giving access to streaming apps such as YouTube, Netflix, and Disney + all in one place. Sky Glass is a new streaming TV made by the company with Sky built inside, acting as an all-in-one and replacing the need for a separate Sky Q box.
