Apple Store employees to receive up to $1,000 bonus this fall, report claims
Apple is said to be giving its retail store employees a bonus of up to $1,000 this fall as a token of appreciation for returning to work and getting the company’s retail operations back on track after the pandemic shutdowns, according to a new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
The report says the rare bonus will be available to all Apple Store employees, with staff working in stores before March 31 receiving $1,000, while employees who joined the company after this date receiving $500. New staff who join Apple to work through the holiday period are said to receive $200.
The report claims that the payouts also will go to AppleCare and online sales workers as well.
It is uncommon for Apple to offer bonuses such as this. As Bloomberg notes, Apple last gave a major company-wide bonus in 2018, when staff received $2,500 worth of restricted AAPL stock units. Unlike the last bonus payout, this year’s staff reward will be given directly to employees in their paycheck.

With lockdown restrictions easing and retail stores becoming busy once again, Apple is seemingly wanting to show thanks to the staff who work one-on-one with customers. With the launch of the iPhone 13 and the lucrative holiday shopping season on the horizon, Apple will likely want to make sure staff are motivated and stay with the company during one of the busiest periods of the year.
The news of the employee bonuses follow after Apple CEO Tim Cook told employees the company would be doing everything in its power to stop leakers from sharing confidential company information with the press in a leaked memo on Tuesday following the contents of an internal meeting leaked the week prior, which included Apple’s return-to-work plans, including regular testing of unvaccinated staff and at offices and retail stores.
