Apple Watch Series 7 will be compatible with old Apple Watch bands
Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 7, featuring larger displays, new finishes, enhanced durability, faster charging, and more at today’s “California streaming” keynote.
In the run-up to today’s special event, rumors had suggested that the Apple Watch Series 7 may not be compatible with older Apple Watch bands, with stock checks of the online Apple Store showing some straps were out of stock or unavailable, and leaks showed new accessories which hinted that the new Apple Watch’s larger display may render bands and straps for the previous-generation Apple Watch incompatible with the Series 7.
However, to the joy of those who have built up a large accessory collection over the years, Apple has confirmed that despite the increase in size, which has seen new 41mm & 45mm options replacing the 40mm and 44mm sizes of the Apple Watch Series 6, all previous Apple Watch bands and straps will be compatible with the new Series 7.
The new Apple Watch Series 7 has around 20% larger screen area compared to the Apple Watch Series 6, with the wearable not getting the long-rumored flat-edge redesign multiple reports had suggested it would.
